Block Watch
The Block Watch program was started in BC in 1986 in response to the concerns of citizens about crime. The program was modelled on a similar project in Seattle which was effective in reducing residential Break and Enters by up to 60%.
Block Watch is a free community-based residential crime prevention program supported by the community and the involvement of the Block Watch Society of BC and the Delta Police. Participants watch out for each other’s homes and report suspicious activities to the police and each other. Block Watch encourages neighbours to work together to enhance the quality of life in their community by reducing and preventing crime.
