Delta Police Department acknowledges that we are located on the traditional territory of the Tsawwassen and Musqueam First Nations and of all the Hun’qumi’num speaking people who have been stewards of this land since time immemorial.

The Delta Police Department recognizes the relationship between Canada’s Government and the Indigenous Peoples of this Land, in history and within present times. With great sadness we recognize the disproportionate rate of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls and how the historical role of systemic racism has impacted this. We also recognize the important role of Two Spirited people within the community and that they are often seen as mediators and healers for their capacity to see in more than one perspective. 

The Delta Police Department will continue to learn from the mistakes of our past. We hear the community, the families and the people, and we are taking action to answer those calls for justice. We are fortunate and grateful to be given the opportunity to move toward reconciliation and foster meaningful relationships with all First Nation community members. Thank you to the Tsawwassen First Nation for allowing us to be and work on their beautiful Territory.
