POLICE INFORMATION CHECKS (PIC)
Types of Police Information Checks
The Delta Police Department (DPD) offers two types of PICs.
1. Police Information Checks without Vulnerable Sector Screening (PIC)
2. Police Information Checks with Vulnerable Sector Screening (PIC VS)
You must be a resident of Delta, British Columbia to apply for a PIC with the DPD. If you live outside of Delta, please visit your local police of jurisdiction to complete a PIC.
How to Apply
All PIC applications must be completed online. Once processed, the results will be delivered to you electronically.
Fees
The following fees apply for PICs and are charged at the time of your application. All fees are non-refundable.

*Individuals applying for a PIC VS may be required to come in for fingerprinting to verify their identity . There is an additional fee of $25 if the PIC VS is for employment or other purposes. This fee is waived if the PIC VS is for volunteer purposes, and you have provided a volunteer letter.
**You must upload a letter from the volunteer organization confirming your volunteer status for your PIC application to qualify for the discounted $15 fee.

Processing Times
PIC processing times can range from 2 business days to 4 weeks. While we strive to complete PICs promptly, we cannot provide an exact processing time. The duration varies based on several factors, including residency history, follow up and fingerprinting requirements.
NOTE: Individuals requesting PIC VS may also be required to come in for fingerprinting to verify your identity and fees are additional $25 for employment/other. The fee is waived if you have provided a volunteer letter with your application.
PIC Guidelines and Standards
The DPD follows the British Columbia Guide for Police Information Checks to ensure all PICs are processed at a consistent standard. The guidelines are available here for further information on the requirements and process for each type of check.
NOTE: By performing a PIC, the DPD is in no way making a recommendation as to the suitability of the applicant for a position, nor should an agency consider the existence of police information to mean a compulsory disqualification of the individual. It is important to note that information released on Police Information Checks in some instances is based upon information provided by the applicant. A police agency cannot guarantee it will identify all information pertaining to the individual.
