
FREEDOM OF INFORMATION
Our Information and Privacy Unit ensures that the Delta Police Department complies with the Freedom of Information & Protection of Privacy Act and other statutes.
The Act provides two basic rights for members of the public:
- The right to access information in public body records;
- The right to have personal information protected from unauthorized collection, use and disclosure.
Submitting a Request
To request records from the Delta Police Department, please complete a Request for Access to Records Form (FOI Request Form). If you are requesting records containing information about yourself, we require a photocopy of your government-issued photo identification, such as a driver’s licence or passport, to verify your identity.

Fees
There are no fees for making a request for your own personal information or for the information of someone for whom you have provided signed consent. Access to other information may be subject to a fee.
Delivery of Response
You may elect to receive a response by mail, email, or pick up at the front counter of our Headquarters located at 4455 Clarence Taylor Crescent or our North Delta Public Safety Building located at 11375 84 Avenue.
Response Time
The Act allows us 30 business days to respond to requests for records. If more time is required due to the number of records, complexity of the request, or consultations with third parties, we will notify you as soon as possible.
Severing
When you receive your response, you may notice that certain information has been blacked out (severed). This is done to protect personal information of others, or information that could harm law enforcement matters. We will always explain why any information was severed.
