DPD welcomes new Media Liaison Officer
The Delta Police Department (DPD) is excited to announce that A/Sgt Leisa Schaefer will be returning to the DPD to assume this position of Media Liaison Officer in our Communications Section. Leisa will be managing the day-to-day media, and public affairs for the DPD.
Leisa joined the DPD 18 years ago after volunteering for our Victim Services Section. She has considerable experience and training in this area, and previously held the Media Relations Officer role. Leisa also has significant community engagement and relations experience as she was the District Liaison Officer for the Tsawwassen DCPO; this experience will be essential and invaluable in her new role. Leisa was previously seconded to the Real Time Intelligence Center (RTIC) with the RCMP.
Policing with the DPD has been a family tradition for Leisa’a family, dating back to the 1940s. Her grandfather and father both served as DPD’s night watchmen and were the two of the three DPD members at the time, in addition to then Police Chief, Scott Fenton.
Having Leisa take on this role will allow Cris Leykauf to focus on strategic communications and special projects.
Please join us in welcoming Leisa!
