Statement from the Delta Police Board
The following is authored by the Delta Police Board and distributed on their behalf by the Delta Police Department.
The Delta Police Board is aware of the public’s concerns with respect to the ongoing investigation regarding the spouse of the Delta Police Chief and it takes all allegations regarding the Delta Police Department very seriously. Not only are we ensuring that a fair and independent process is followed through the current investigation, but we will also be reviewing our internal policies and practices.
Confidence and trust in community policing is critical and we wish to restate our earlier commitment to create a safe, just, and inclusive community for all residents and visitors in Delta. We absolutely and unequivocally condemn racism and fully recognize that together we all need to do more to combat racism, hatred and discrimination in our community.
The Delta Police Board meets regularly with the next meeting scheduled for this upcoming Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at 9:00 am. The meeting commences with an open session that facilitates public participation. We encourage members of the community to participate in the open session but recognize that while we want to hear your concerns, we may not yet be in a position to formally respond to all questions at that time. Let us work together to continue to build a safer and better community in Delta.
