Delta Police Hosts Commercial Vehicle Safety Joint Force Operation
From June 19th to June 20th, the Delta Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit partnered with various other enforcement agencies to enhance commercial vehicle road safety.
The operation focused on commercial vehicles that may not be properly maintained and could pose hazards on our roads. Inspections prioritized critical aspects such as mechanical components and driver qualifications, specifically assessing brakes, tires, lights, steering, load security, driver licensing compliance, and driver fatigue.
During the two-day initiative, 84 vehicles were inspected, predominantly light commercial vans, pick-up trucks, small delivery vehicles, trades vehicles, as well as some larger commercial vehicles. Among the 84 commercial vehicles inspected, a total of 403 violations were recorded during the two-day operation. As a result, 49 vehicles (58%) were deemed unfit for service and required immediate repairs before proceeding, while 17 violation tickets were issued to the vehicles’ operators.
As always, the Delta Police Department and its law enforcement partners strongly encourage all commercial vehicle operators to conduct thorough pre-trip checks for the safety of all road users.
