Online gift card scam

In this scam, scammers pretend to be someone they’re not to convince you to pay with gift cards. Often the scammer will request that you purchase gift cards, such as Google Play, Amazon, or Apple claiming that either a debt will paid off this way, or that you will be reimbursed. Once purchased, the scammer asks for you to scratch off the code on the back and provide it to them. You never hear from them again (unless they want more). An important reminder that no government agency or bank will ask to be paid in gift cards.
