The EDIU actively listens to community recommendations on cultural education, and is regularly expanding the resources available to our staff and citizens.
The EDIU seeks to ensure the DPD is enriched with the diverse teachings of our growing membership and community, many of whom trace their ancestry to all corners of the world, and time immemorial.
Furthermore, our members take part in countless cultural events and festivities each year, many of which are led internally by our own staff.
For a quarterly list of community recommended pop culture resources, please see the DPD EDIU Library resource.
We are DPD
Our officers speak 17 languages, from Portuguese to Punjabi, and bring a diverse range of lived experiences to the job.
Our officers are former teachers, firefighters, and paramedics; social workers, mental health professionals, and red seal tradespeople.
Our officers have served overseas in the armed forces; competed on the world stage as professional athletes; and talked your neighbours, friends, and family members down from high places, and up from low moments.
We are mothers, fathers, sons, and daughters. We talk about policing like family because we are one: we experience the best and worst of life together. Each day, we leave the ones we love at home, then gear up for duty to help protect yours.
We understand service over self because we live it, every day. We are the DPD.
