Meet Our Recruiters
Inspector Brian Hill
Before being hired at the Delta Police Department, I volunteered at the Delta Community Police Office. To better prepare myself for the recruiting process, I participated in several ride-alongs. These experiences were invaluable, and I was hired as a police officer in 2001.
One of the many benefits of a career in policing is the wide range of opportunities on the job. I have benefited from working and learning various aspects of the job in multiple sections including Patrol, K9, ERT, Major Crimes, Property Crime, Community Support Services and Recruiting.
I enjoy time with my family, coaching soccer and participating in a wide variety of sports, in particular skiing, soccer and hockey.
Staff Sergeant Andrew Thompson
I have been with the Delta Police since 2008 and have enjoyed my time exploring the many different aspects of policing. During my time as a police officer, I have spent time in Patrol, the Street Crime Unit, Traffic, Professional Standards, the Tsawwassen First Nation Service Team, and Recruiting and Development. It is the flexibility to explore multiple career opportunities within the policing field that has kept me excited about the profession.
One of my favorite experiences with the Delta Police was the time I spent being a dog quarry for the K9 Unit. On a personal note, I enjoy most sports and am hopeful that one day soon, the Toronto Blue Jays will bring back a World Series championship to Canada.
Sergeant Dennis Mah
Prior to starting my career as Delta Police Recruit in 2002, I began my journey as a Reserve Constable at the age of 19. I was going to college; I was mountain biking and playing and coaching baseball before getting hired as a Police Dispatcher & Call-taker. These experiences not only helped me better understand the policing job and criminal justice system, but it prepared me for the recruitment process and subsequent Police Academy training.
Since then, I have had the opportunity to work in several fulfilling sections throughout my career, but nothing has been as challenging and rewarding at the same time as recruiting. Over the past 8 years, I’ve engaged with many aspiring police officers and take tremendous pride in hiring who I see is the best qualified and will fit in well with our team.
Constable Harprit Hair
I was born and raised on Vancouver Island. After high school I attended BCIT to complete my Diploma and then I attended UVIC to complete my Degree. While attending UVIC I started working for the Canada Border Services Agency as a Student Officer and that eventually led to me being hired as a full-time CBSA Officer.
I was first stationed in the Yukon and then transferred to the Vancouver International Airport. After 11 years with the CBSA I decided on a career change and applied to the Delta Police Department. I attended the Police Academy in 2014 and in my 10 years with Delta Police I have worked in Patrol, the Patrol Support Team, Traffic, and currently in the Recruiting Section.
Constable Meghan Wellis
I have been with the Delta Police Department for four years. In my short time with the Delta Police Department, I have had the opportunity to work in Patrol, the Sexual Offences Section, and the Drug investigation Section on short term secondments. My favorite part about policing is the proactive side of keeping the community safe and working in a team environment.
I completed my Criminology Degree prior to coming to Delta and come from a sports background. I hope and look forward to guiding you through the police application process!
