IIO asserts jurisdiction after two men injured during attempted arrest
Delta Police were in Langley BC the evening of October 7, on a matter related to a serious investigation from the previous week, when officers attempted to arrest two men. During the attempted arrest the two men received non-life threatening injuries. They were eventually arrested. The incident occurred in the 2400 block of 200 St. in Langley.
The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) has asserted jurisdiction regarding the circumstances of how the two men were injured. No civilians were injured during the incident and neither were any police officers injured.
The RCMP has now taken conduct of the Delta Police investigation regarding the two men. This will run concurrent to the IIO investigation.
As the IIO and RCMP are now the lead agencies in these investigations, the Delta Police will not be commenting any further on this matter.
