First the Plane Crash, Then the PTSD
Five days before her wedding, RCMP Constable Sande Higgins was set to fly from her Northern posting in Pukatawagan, Manitoba to Winnipeg. On take-off, the plane crashed injuring most passengers and leaving one passenger deceased.
Sande heroically helped the surviving passengers escape the plane, but the toll it took on Sande did not show itself for years to come.
Sande joins Chief Dubord on this episode of Bend Don't Break to share her story of overcoming PTSD, and to share her message, "You are important. It is never too late to ask for help."
