Suspect sought after woman reports being groped

Delta Police are investigating after a woman reported being groped by a man near Seaquam Secondary School in North Delta.

The adult woman was walking on the track at the grounds of Seaquam Secondary around 10:15 am, Feb. 19. She contacted police to report she had been groped from behind, by an unknown male, who then fled. The woman suffered a minor injury as a result of the incident.

“Our officers responded immediately, conducting a search for the man. A police dog was brought in to assist with the search, but unfortunately the man was not located,” says Cris Leykauf, public affairs coordinator for Delta Police.

In order to ensure the safety of students at Seaquam Secondary and nearby elementary schools, a code Yellow lockout procedure was initiated by the police School Liaison Officer.

The Code Yellow procedure allows the school to continue with a normal school day, but cancels or delays outdoor activities. Unauthorized personnel are not permitted to enter the building.

The investigation is continuing, and police are currently in the area canvassing residents.

The suspect is described as male, with a medium build, wearing a dark hoodie and possibly dark pants.

If anyone has information related to this investigation, they are asked to contact Delta Police at 604-946-4411.

A police dog was brought in to assist with the search for the suspect.
