Police investigating indecent act in Sunshine Hills park

Delta Police are investigating a complaint of an indecent act that occurred August 28 around 7:30 am in Sunshine Hills park.

A man witnessed a woman chasing away an unknown male, who had allegedly exposed himself to her within the park.

The woman threatened to call police, and the male then fled.

The incident was reported to police approximately two hours later. Extensive area patrols were done, but police were unable to locate the suspect.

Delta Police have stepped up patrols into the area, and analysts are engaged in seeking more information about any similar occurrences in the region.

The suspect is described as a male, approximately 50 years old, 5’8” to 6’ tall, heavyset, with a black beard with some white in it. He was last seen walking around 64a Ave and Mason Place.

“Reports such as these are definitely concerning to police,” says Cris Leykauf, public affairs coordinator for Delta Police. “Our officers have been speaking to neighbours in the area, but if anyone believes they have information which may be relevant to police, please contact us.”

Those walking in the area, particularly through parks etc, are advised to pay attention to surroundings, carry a cell phone or walk in pairs.

Anyone with further information is asked to call 604-946-4411 and quote file number 18-19382.
