New Year’s Eve in Delta was busy for police, but for the most part, the community rang in the New Year in a responsible fashion.
The day began with police attending several minor motor vehicle crashes due to icy roads. Fortunately, there were no significant injuries.
That evening and night Delta Police received an average number of calls for service for a New Years Eve. Complaints included four noisy parties, firecrackers, and intoxicated persons.
Police thank everyone who chose to make responsible decisions regarding driving after their celebrations. However, police did deal with five impaired drivers, handing out a number of sanctions, including one 90-day immediate roadside suspension.
As the holidays wrap up we remind all motorists to check road conditions prior to heading out and to drive safely.
