DOVE Committee Recognizes National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women December 06

December 06, National day of Remembrance and Action on Violence against Women is approaching. On December 06 1989, 14 women at Montreal’s Ecole Polytechnique were murdered. This day is often marked by the wearing of purple ribbons to signal remembrance for women affected by violence, and to promote discussion and action surrounding violence against women.
The DOVE (Delta Opposes Violence Everywhere) coordinating committee will be participating in a public awareness events on December 02 & 03, 2017, providing information, resources and education on this issue. The DOVE Committee believes that violence in all relationships has to stop and the way to achieve this is to educate people about the reality and scope of this problem and how they can help to prevent further violence.
To commemorate this National Day of Remembrance DOVE Committee members and Police will be hosting displays at the following dates and locations;

Tswawwassen Mills Mall (Entry 6 near Bass Pro Shop) -. 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. (Caber, our victim services Dog, will also on be on site with our staff here)
The DOVE Committee consists of multiple community agencies including; Deltassist Family & Community Services, Delta Police Victim Services, Stroh Healthcare, Boys and Girls Club, Options Community Services, Bowman Law Center, Diversecity, Options, Family Justice Services, Delta School District, Delta/Surrey Community Corrections, and Legal Services Society. They work in a coordinated effort to end violence in all relationships by bringing about public awareness, as well as reducing any identified gaps in services within Delta.
