In 2015 Delta Police received a complaint of suspicious activity involving financial management and care of a senior in our community. During the course of this in-depth investigation it was learned that the suspect, was granted Enduring Power of Attorney allowing unfettered access to all funds of the elderly person. It was in this trusted capacity that the offences of theft and fraud were alleged to have been committed over an extended period of time. The sum of the theft and fraud are in excess of $300,000.

After much investigative effort, charges were approved by Crown Counsel on October 03, 2017. A warrant was issued on October 04, 2017 for the arrest of the accused, 33 year old Lucas William Robert ROBINSON of Delta.  The accused, ROBINSON, turned himself into Delta Police on October 04 2017 and was subsequently released on a Promise to Appear compelling his court appearance on November 09, 2017.

Elder abuse can elude police because it can be well hidden either behind closed doors and actions can have the appearance of legitimacy. Preying on the trust and vulnerability of a senior is a crime we must be prudent and diligent in investigating.  This case required persistence and digging below the surface.
