Project Description

Delta Police Rolls Out a New Ride in Their Fleet

Release Date/Time: August 29, 2017 8:41am

The Delta Police have been granted a 2009 Cadillac Escalade through the provincial government’s Civil Forfeiture Program. A program that continues to undermine the profit motive behind gang and criminal activity by taking away these proceeds of crime from the criminal element.

The 2009 Escalade equipped with personalized plates “RS NOW” will be roaming the streets of Delta driven by Delta Police Youth and School Liaison officers. It will be taken to various community and youth events and drive home the message that crime doesn’t pay. We want to continue to interact with our youth and encourage them to make positive choices and connections in the community as opposed to going into a life of crime. The Delta Police don’t want to see anyone’s potential or future wasted or lost to a life of crime.

Chief Dubord explains, “The Delta Police are excited to roll out this Escalade. We need to leverage creative approaches and tools, like a cool ride, to make it easier for young people to approach us. The provincial government’s Civil Forfeiture Program has given us access to a vehicle we wouldn’t otherwise have been in a position to bring into our fleet. Our goal is to reach our young people, so we can engage in a meaningful conversation around the true realities and risks that come with getting involved in a gang lifestyle and criminal activity.  The Escalade will be used as that conversation starter.”

This new (to us) Escalade is wrapped and ready to roll out in time for the start of the new school year.
