Delta Police Bring 529 Garage to the City of Delta
|Release Date/Time:||December 13, 2017 11:03am|
529 Garage, a bike registration program with a proven track record of recovering bikes both in the lower mainland and across North America, is rolling in to Delta just in time for Christmas!
Delta Police is pleased to announce that they have joined forces with Project 529, a US-based bicycle reporting and recovery network, to launch the Delta 529 Garage Bike Registry. The registry is a quick and easy way to reunite bike owners with their registered bikes if those bike are stolen or lost.
December 16th 2017, from 2-4pm, Delta Police will be teaming with Cap’s South Shore Cycles at 7917 120th St in Delta to provide a freeregistration event to introduce the 529 Garage program. Anyone wishing to register their bike can attend with their ride and volunteers and 529 officials will register their bikes for free, in under five minutes. We hope to expand the program across the city in 2018 as well as having 529 Garage pop ups at community events.
Delta will join over 25 municipalities and 100 bike shops across British Columbia who have already adopted the program. With the program, the City of Vancouver saw a 35% reduction of reported bike thefts and over 200 bikes returned to their owners in the last 12 months.

About Project 529
Project 529 was founded in 2013 by a team of software professionals in Portland, Oregon who believed that technology can enhance the cycling experience. Their first product, the 529 Garage, is the simplest and most complete bike registration system created to date, having helped secure over $15M worth of bikes since its introduction last year.
