What is a complaint?

A complaint is when you feel the actions of a police officer or the service provided by the Delta Police Department has affected you personally in an adverse way or in a way that you believe was inappropriate, or, you have witnessed the actions of a police officer that you believe were not conducted in an appropriate professional manner.

What is a question or concern?

A question or concern is when the actions of a police officer has affected you personally, or you have witnessed the actions of a police officer that you believe may or may not have been inappropriate and you would like an explanation.

What if I do not wish to make a complaint, but I want the actions of the police officer brought to his or her supervisors attention?

There may be times when you do not feel as though you were treated professionally or with courtesy and you would like the officer, or officers you dealt with to know how you felt. PSS will facilitate bringing your concerns to the attention of the officer and the appropriate supervisor of the officer.

How long does it usually take to resolve a complaint?

If your complaint does not proceed to a full investigation which can take as long as six months or more depending on the seriousness of the allegation, a resolution is usually completed within 30 days.
