Citizens and Police Working Together Yield Results

On August 21, 2017 at approximately 9:00 p.m., Delta Police responded to a report of a suspicious person in the 5000 blk of Canoe Pass Way in South Delta.
Citizens were suspicious of a male who was removing packaging from electronic items in the parking lot of the Tsawwassen Mills Mall. Once the male left the packaging behind the citizen returned the packaging to the store believing the items may be stolen. Police were called and subsequently located the male nearby. He was found to be in possession of multiple items confirmed to be stolen from local businesses. These items included the brand new bike he was riding to haul away his stash. The 37 year old male from Surrey was taken into custody without incident. Although the investigation continues, the male is facing charges of theft under and possession of stolen property.
Delta Police appreciate the alert citizens who went out of their way to report this suspicious person and activity. This observe and report approach led to the recovery of stolen property and one male in custody.
