On February 2, 2016, Delta Police Constable Geoffrey Young was charged with two counts of forgery in relation to prescription pain medication after an investigation by the Surrey RCMP. The alleged offences occurred on November 8, 2015 and were not related to Constable Young’s duties as a police officer.
Young is charged with Forgery under S.366(1)(b) Criminal Code of Canada and Causing person to use forged document, S.368(1)(b) Criminal Code of Canada.
As the case is now before the courts and the investigation is ongoing, Delta Police cannot provide any further comment on the case. The investigation itself and the circumstances surrounding it are under the jurisdiction of the Surrey RCMP.
Young is 38 years old and has been a member of the Delta Police Department since 2009. At the time of the alleged offences he was performing administrative duties after a return from medical leave. Young remains on paid medical leave and a Police Act investigation is ongoing. His next court appearance is scheduled for February 5, 2016 in Surrey Provincial Court.
