Overview   |   - Dog Teams   |   Activities/Reports

ICS handlers are responsible for their canine partner and the dogs live with the handler - often becoming a close member of the handler's family. Each dog team in ICS is trained for patrol work and brings a variety of other skills and specialties to the ICS.

Cst Chris Borgstede and PSD Chikko Cst Borgstede from the Delta Police Department is a certified Master Trainer (CLEAR) and works with PSD Chikko (born 2002) and PSD Kazza (born 2006).

Cst Julian Knight and PSD Andi Cst. Knight from the New Westminster Police Service works with PSD Brando (2004). PSD Brando is Cst Knight's second police dog and was partnered with Cst Knight when PSD Andi retired in 2008.

Cst Rempel and PSD Gunner Cst. Rempel from the New Westminster Police Service recently partnered up with PSD Gunner (born 2007) as PSD Banks (born 2002) is getting ready to retire.

PSD Gunner and Cst. Rempel will be training to work with MIERT as well as training in drug and firearm detection. So far PSD Gunner is a quick study and promises to be an outstanding police dog.

Cst Hill and PSD Euro Cst. Hill from the Delta Police Department works PSD Euro (born 2005). PSD Euro is related to PSD Chikko as both have the same mother.

PSD Euro was seriously injured in the spring of 2008 jumping a fence on a track and had to undergo extensive surgery and rehabilitation on his back leg. PSD Euro is back on the road catching "bad guys" and will be training with Cst. Hill to work with MIERT.

Cst. Bowyer from the New Westminster Police Service works PSD Tech (born 2004). PSD Tech is a Labrador and is a single purpose drug dog.

Cst Bowyer is assigned to the New Westminster Police Service Patrol Section and uses PSD Tech to search for drugs and firearms on the street and for special projects—often with outside agencies. All PSD Tech's training is done through the ICS.
