Community Relations Section
The Community Relations Section was created to provide access to police services and information. If you require help locating information or determining the section that would best fit your need, contact our Community Relations officer who can assist you.
General information, crime prevention brochures or other assistance can be provided for public events. The Community Relations officer works in partnership with the officers in the Operational Support Section (School Liaison and CoPS).
The Community Relations Section oversees and directs the following programs:
- Crime Prevention through Environmental Design (CPTED) program. This program facilitates cooperation between developers, builders, municipal planning department and police to prevent diverse problems by planning the physical design, layouts and location to eliminate or reduce opportunities for crime. The officer sits as a liaison for the Delta Advisory Planning Commission and the Advisory Design Panel as well as reviewing development and building applications
In addition to coordinating crime prevention programs the Community Relations officer acts as the Liquor Liaison officer. This responsibility includes reviewing Special Occasion Licence applications for public events that have been submitted for approval and acting as a liaison between police and the Liquor Control and Licensing Branch.
